“I shot this for a Kastel Shoes ad and, like everything with Steve Olson, it was quite an adventure. This rail was at an apartment complex somewhere between Pacific Beach and La Jolla on a very crowded and busy street. After arriving it didn’t look possible as their was a car parked right in front of the ride away but it didn’t deter Steve from giving it a go. He got right on it and came close a few times before rolling away. Well, not much of a roll away, like four feet before slamming himself into the parked car. The alarm might have gone off and we bolted quick like. This might have been the last time I saw Steve; definitely the last time I shot a photo of him.”
