DIY Skateparks became a thing when the skateboarders of Portland, Oregon took it upon themselves to take over a useless piece of land under a bridge and build a concrete skatepark on their own. This all got started in 1991 and the Burnside Project has stood the test of time. Here we have another DIY skatepark that followed the path Northwest skateboarders started many years after called Channel Street DIY in San Pedro, Ca. This spot got closed around 2015 but has since reopened for concrete shredders everywhere. Omar Hassan, tailslide 2008.
